Santosha Yoga shares a studio with Shimmy Shimmy Dance Studio
Together we offer classes in yoga, pole dance fitness, aerial hammocks and belly dance. Monthly sound healings, private classes, parties and reiki sessions are also offered.
We have yoga mats and a full supply of yoga props available.

Why practice yoga?
The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit word "yuj," which means to yoke or unite. In yoga, the body, mind, and breath are seen as a unified whole, and the practice aims to cultivate a sense of inner peace, balance, and harmony.

What does Santosha mean?
Santosha is the second niyama ("virtue") described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. It is described as contentment and lack of desire for what others have. From Sanskrit sam, meaning "completely" or "altogether" and tosha, meaning "contentment "or "acceptance." Santosha is the practice of cultivating a sense of contentment and satisfaction with what we have and where we are in the present moment. In practicing santosha, happiness comes from within and is not dependent on outside influences.
Laurel Malloy

Laurel’s yoga classes are inspired by many influences and teachers from her 20+ years of practice and training. She began teaching yoga in May of 2013 in various studios as well as offering private yoga sessions. In May of 2024 Laurel opened Santosha Yoga & Wellness at Shimmy Shimmy Dance Studio's second location in Miller Place.
Laurel has studied Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Restorative, Yin, Prenatal and Trauma Informed Yoga. All classes are centered on mindfulness, breath, and body awareness. Her specialty is Slow Flow Yoga - a slowed down vinyasa practice focused on increasing flexibility, building strength and finding balance (physically and mentally). Poses are mindfully moved through and held for longer than a typical vinyasa class.
